Teal Pumpkins Mean This on Halloween.

Traditional orange pumpkins are commonly associated with Halloween décor.

However, this year there will be a new hue of pumpkin on display: teal.

On Halloween, a teal pumpkin on the porch indicates that the homeowner is handing out non-food treats such as toys or trinkets.

The Teal Pumpkin Project was created by the charity Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) to raise awareness about food allergies.

Glow sticks, pop-up toys, playing cards, pencil toppers, and temporary tattoos are some examples of non-food goods.

Milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, and sesame are common allergies in Halloween sweets.

Candy is rejected by many trick-or-treaters. The Teal Pumpkin Project keeps young kids safe over the holidays.
